Fibula
In 2012 Orsolya Kránitz and Dorottya Nagy founded the brand FIBULA. They graduated from Moholy-Nagy University of Art (Textile Department). During the university years they worked together in different competitions where they usually got podium results and they became a well-knit designer duo. They consider all design works (even wedding dresses or uniforms) as a challenge. Their first solo collection came out for the Spring-Summer season of 2013.
The word fibula comes from the Latin, meaning “link, connecting”. The brand FIBULA is a link between the traditional and the contemporary design as well as between the Hungarian and global tendencies. The fibula became a fashionable tool from the Bronze Age: people pinned together robes or outers over their shoulders with it. The more decorated the fibula, the higher hierarchical rank its wearer had in the society.
From the very beginning, clothing has always been more than a functional need. It is a way to express ourselves. Not long ago, its most important role was to express nobility or wealth - nowadays the expression of individuality came into view.
The designers would like all FIBULA fans and wearers of the brand to fill their design vision with their personality.
