Agnes Kovacs established her brand while studying at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design encouraged by the constant interest towards her bags.
Her design approach – aspiration for simplicity, clarity and conciseness – has been recognizable easily from the beginning and it is still a fundamental principle of her collections. She draws inspiration from the urban surroundings she lives in where she seeks serenity and purity among the overload of stimuli and information.
The quiet aesthetics that characterizes Agnes’ designs originates from the determining atmosphere of her childhood which she spent in one of the smallest villages of Hungary, Bácsborsód.
The distinctive character of the bags is created by a technique which has been developed and constantly reconsidered by Agnes; the bags are made of one single piece of leather by folding and bending and the final form is shaped by sewing. The basic form is always completed by remarkable but subtle details. Thus, the aesthetics of AGNESKOVACS is achieved within the purity of function-determined design by abandoning unnecessary details.
Only high quality, genuine leather – and occasionally, other very durable materials like canvas, felt, metal or wood – is used to create the AGNESKOVACS leather bags and accessories.
The products of the dynamically developing brand are available online or in selected stores of Budapest and Hungary. Currently, the brand is also entering international markets.
