The Experience of Joy from Eden – The Daalarna Bride

by Maria Vanyovszki

Daalarna: the name that means wedding clothes for Hungarians. Nine out of ten youngsters can name this brand, if they talk about wedding dresses.

Fifteen years ago, before the foundation of the brand the designer, Anita Benes did not think either that in spite of the ticket price crowds of people would queue at her annual shows.

What might be the secret of her success?

Her pieces have been characterized by such high standards, following the international trends since the beginning, although the unique designer vision has asserted itself as well, that a huge gap was filled on the market of the current wedding dresses. I moved to Hungary in 2003, so my wedding was not here, but the experience was vivid enough to discover Anita’s brand immediately. Only in her collection you could find pieces which reminded you of the new trends of foreign brands. At the renting shops from Budapest you could find only the same standard, romantic style, there were not even traces of the extravagant, or the minimal cutting dresses.

Anita has been combining the romantic expectation associated to wedding with styles, forms, colours of the international trends in such a way that uniqueness, high quality, fine, clear lines, the eye on details approach, ensuring comfort and harmony are the most important elements.

Moreover we do not get only dresses from her, but a special feeling as well.

With every single picture she provides us with a dream. Every single stitch, lace suggests the unrepeatable experience of the big day and the promise of the everlasting joy, then the photos of the wonderful collections, with models like Nelli Tombor, or the designer’s daughter, Sára emphasize the same sensation.

The photos of the current Paradise collection are accessible in the Lookbook.

At the show we could first admire the colourful, casual pieces, then the typically wedding ones.

The main inspiring motif while making the dresses was the desire to escape from the every day life, from the cosmopolitan way of living.

The visual and sound effects were based on the same conception. The decor of the runway evoked at the same time the beauty and the fairy tale aspect of the unclouded Eden and the buzzing and peacefulness of the sultry tropical areas.

Naturalness and comfort were the main criteria while creating the pieces of the collection: the fine silk materials, the floating tulle, the breeze of the sea embrace the one who wears them.

The markings of the laces reminded us of the flowers and the tendrils of the jungle.

The brightness of the organza with its iridescent surface of the caramel nuanced dresses refer to the damp, shiny leaves with drops of water, as the designer said (interview on the site of Secret Stories).

The defining colours of the collection are the cloudwhite, the waterblue and the sand of the sea. In the additional tones we can recognize the aeruginous of the tropical leaves and the vividness of the vibrant exotic flowers.

Anita always used coulours in a brave way, which is obvious at the choice of the accessories as well. The head pieces are Adrien Nagy’s, the Rienne Creations work, while the shoes are Réka Vágó’s merits.

László Hajas’ s natural, wind-blown hairstyles were in perfect harmony with the setting of the collection, which was perfectly completed with the make up highlighting natural beauty by Zita Sipos’s team.

The photos of A Salon were taken by Nerpel Photography.
